The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics (for example, name and contact details)

  • Attendance at courses/events

  • Gift aid declaration forms (includes personal identifiers and confirmation that you are a UK tax payer)

  • Static and moving images of people.

  • Image captured whilst filming church services and taking photographs at church events.

How we get the personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • Applying for a course run by Lighthouse London Church e.g. Way of Spirt Life

  • Donating to Lighthouse London Church

  • Donating to Lighthouse London Community Trust (data collected by Lighthouse London Church on behalf of LLCT)

  • Signing up to a mailing list

  • Filming and photography during worship services and church events. There are notices around the church indicating the locations of filming and film free area. You may withhold your consent by sitting in a “film free area” of the church before filming or photography starts. In the filming areas, once live-streaming or filming has started or group photographs have been taken consent cannot be withdrawn because your data can’t be permanently removed from the internet, nor can a group video or photograph be edited to remove your image.

  • Doorbell cameras and CCTV cameras located inside and outside the building, capturing footage in the direction that they are pointing. There are notices located to inform people where the cameras are in use.

We also process “special categories” of information that may include:

  • Religious belief – By taking part in the service this may indicate religious belief.

  • Archiving – certain services may be retained permanently for historic purposes.

We use the information that you have given us in order to contact you (mailing lists), process gift aid claims (donations), to create a safer environment (CCTV), avoid harassment of staff (doorbell cameras) and to promote Lighthouse London Church through online social media such as Youtube and Instagram (filming and photography).

Consent for under 18's is obtained through parental consent forms. A copy of this Privacy Notice is available whenever anyone subscribes to a mailing list or fills in a form and they are asked to confirm that they accept this notice which includes giving consent. For filming and photography during worship and CCTV we rely on the notices indicating filming zones and film free zones.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

  1. Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting catherine@lighthouselondon.org

  2. We have a legal obligation.

  3. We have a legitimate interest.

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored on ChurchSuite and/or MemberSpace, and/or OneDrive and/or USB drive. USB drive storage is for doorbell and CCTV footage only and is deleted 30 days after capture.

We keep gift aid declarations until 6 years after the end of the accounting period in which the last gift aid claim was made in your name after which it is deleted and/or shredded.

We keep other personal identifiers until you no longer have a connection with Lighthouse London Church (n.b. former congregation members, and former course attendees are considered to have a connection with the church and therefore if you would like your details deleting please send a request to catherine@lighthouselondon.org). We will then dispose of your information by deleting your record from ChurchSuite, MemberSpace and any other storage location.

We will be sharing photographs and recorded or live-streamed services with the public, by uploading it to social media and other internet sites, such as Youtube, Zoom, Facebook, Instagram etc. This means your data may be stored outside the UK. Each platform has its own privacy policy which describes how your data is used and protected. We will keep your image data from services and events for up to 3 years, except for certain special services, which may be retained permanently for archival purposes.
